Middle School Jump Start
For all incoming 6th grade students. An increased academic workload and new ideas
introduced can make the middle school transition a challenge. These are important days for incoming middle school students to start developing the skills needed to be successful. In addition to receiving help finding classrooms, opening lockers, meeting teachers and navigating the cafeteria; student will learn important learning strategies they can use to start the school year strong! Don't let your student miss out. All 6th grade students should plan on attending and are automatically enrolled for Jumpstart when they enroll in Middle School.

School-based & Special Programs. We offer a number of programs geared specifically toward individual student need. Teachers and schools identify students and send invitations. As a parent, if you see a program you think your child would benefit from but have not received an invitation, contact your child's school or the program for more information.
Baker Summer Camp
This program is offered to incoming 7th and 8th grade students based on Math and Reading test scores. Afternoon enrichment and recreation will be provided
through the YMCA Bulldog Center. Breakfast & Lunch will be provided to all
participants. Transportation will be provided from local elementary schools. Baker Summer Program registration packets are available at Baker and they are not available via TPS website.
First Creek Summer Camp
This 5 week program is offered by invitation to incoming 7th and
8th grade students, to stay connected to learning through meaningful academic and social experiences, in partnership with the YMCA. Every Thursday, the students will attend a field trip that conicides with concepts taught during the week. Each student will receive an individualized
academic program. Transportation will be
provided from home elementary schools. Breakfast and lunch provided for all participants free of charge.
Jason Lee Summer Academy
This program serves 150 Jason Lee students. Students receive math, language arts, AVID (college prep) and
physical education instruction. See video of program.
Gray Summer Camp
This program is offered by invitation only to incoming 7th
and 8th grade students to stay connected to learning through
integrated, relevant academic experiences. Students will participate in
literacy, math, and AVID sessions that will be part of a project-based
culminating activity, including enrichment opportunities. Breakfast
and lunch will be provided for all participants.
This program will serve students to improve their grades and/or earn Moving Up certificate after completing work. Students will prepare for next year's expectations by completing their summer school work. Breakfast and Lunch provided.
In partnership with the YMCA, the Stewart Panther Learning Academy is offering a well rounded experience for Stewart students which includes reading, science, investigations around gardens, habitats, biospheres and much more. There will be field trip experiences to compliment the learning. Breakfast and lunch are provided.
English Language Learners
Serving middle school students with limited English skills. This programs helps students live successfully in an English-speaking culture and in a multilingual, multicultural world. Schools will identify and invite students to participate.
