The collection of behavior data allows the district and schools to use this data to drive decisions and action plans, focused on Goal #4, Safety, to create and maintain safe learning environments.
Likewise, the Comprehensive Education Data and Research Systems (CEDARS) used across the state collects, stores and reports data on districts related to students to meet state and federal reporting requirements and to help educators and policy makers to make data driven decisions. One of the key data reporting components is student behaviors.
The types of behaviors that result in state reported actions include:
The benchmark displays the percentage of students whose misbehavior resulted in a suspension or expulsion.
Because a school year includes two calendar years, such as 2014-2015, the school year on the benchmark chart is identified by the second calendar year. For example, the 2014-2015 school year is identified as 2015 on the chart.
The data can be viewed by district, region, school, and race. The data can be further filtered by gender, English Language Learner status, free and reduced lunch status, special education status, and race.
Number of students receiving one or more suspensions/expulsions divided by the total enrollment for the specified grade level.
Discipline data is maintained by schools in the student information system and is uploaded to the data warehouse daily.
The benchmark displays the most recent week's data for each school year.
