The district completed a major overhaul of our data warehouse. Why? ...to build a solid foundation supporting reliable reports for many years. Our new reports show data from the 2018 school year and beyond using new tools to visualize the data. Legacy reports show older data using older tools. The improved benchmarks should give you a better picture of how we're doing and help us make better data-driven decisions for Tacoma students.
We recognize that making the decision to not finish high school has long term impacts on a student's future. Helping these students reconnect to educational programs so they can earn their high school diploma is our goal. Our high school teams continue to reach out to these students to encourage and support them in finding a program that can help them complete the requirements and earn their high school diploma.

The reengagement rate is determined by comparing the number of students who returned to school after having dropped out to the total number of students eligible to reengage.
Because a school year includes two calendar years, such as 2014-2015, the school year on the benchmark chart is identified by the second calendar year. For example, the 2014-2015 school year is identified as 2015 on the chart.
The data may be viewed by district, region, school, and race. It can be further filtered by gender, English Language Learner status, free and reduced lunch status, and special education status.
*Beginning with the 2014-15 school year, improvements have been made in the accuracy of enrollment calculations. Prior year calculations may be off less than 0.5%.
The data is extracted from the student information system and updated in the data warehouse nightly.
