Smarter Balance Assessments (SBA)
Right now over 250 colleges (see list in Links on the laft of this page) are accepting the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) exam in lieu of traditional entrance exams such as SAT and ACT. In Washington State, there are 49, including The University of Washington, PLU, and UPS.
Colleges are recognizing this is a better test to measure student understanding of core requirements for college and career readiness. And like traditional college entrance exams, the highest score is banked and reported. SBA has been adopted as the standard for Washington State graduation requirements in English/Language Arts and Math. Student success on the SBA means our schools will continue to have instructional freedom as we develop curriculum around the arts, math and science, and community resources. Every junior and sophomore should work to do their very best.
In addition to Test Prep in humanities and Math classes, student can practice and study on their own. Test prep resources are located at in the links on the left of this page.
