Uniform Policy

Sheridan-uniform-complete.jpgSheridan is a mandatory uniform school. Uniforms are required every day.
Any student not in compliance with the dress code will be asked to telephone home for a change of clothes.
Students not in uniform will have limited privileges and activities outside the classroom.
If you are in need of assistance with uniforms, contact the office at 571-5900.
Polo shirts are available for purchase in the office for $3.00                  
Students generally conduct themselves in a manner similar to the way in which they dress and groom. Any type of dress or grooming disruptive to the educational process will not be permitted. Warm weather clothing may include walking shorts.  Please follow uniform guidelines.
There will be several “free dress” days throughout the school year. These days will be announced. On “free dress” days students will be allowed to wear their uniforms or other clothing appropriate for school.
 
TOPS – Solid colors only white, navy blue or light blue.
             Collared or turtlenecks - short or long sleeves -  sweatshirts or sweaters.
             No labels, logos, designs or pictures. No hoods, unless it is a previously
             approved Sheridan shirt, school logo attire ­T-­shirts and sweatshirts.

 
BOTTOMS – Solid colors only – tan or navy blue
            Pants or capris –jeans, sweats or cargo pants must be worn on the natural     
            waistline, ­no sagging – pant leg cuffs will be above ground and in good condition.
 Jumper, skorts and skirts – must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee.
 Shorts – must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee. They are acceptable
during the months of September, October, May and June.
 
 The following clothes ARE NOT acceptable for school wear:
No ­halter tops, spaghetti strap tops, bare midriff, and low­-cut or see-­through tops.
Top sleeves/straps should be a minimum width of three adult fingers.
No ­shirts with inappropriate slogans or art work with references to drugs, weapons,  
alcohol, offensive or sexual language.
No ­gang clothing and symbols.
No saggy pants allowed.
No ­hats/scarves of any kind are to be worn in the building (except on special “hat       
days” or with prior approval).
No ­slide ­on shoes should be worn for PE.
No ­open toe, flip flop or sandals are allowed.
 
Appropriate shoes for play that ensure safety should be worn. Tennis shoes are recommended. To help prevent lost 
items, we suggest labeling all clothing and backpacks.
