​​Working hard to meet the diverse needs of all our students, Tacoma Public Schools provides several alternative learning sites.

  • Community-Based Transition Program (CBTP)​
    A vocational program for young adults ages 18–21.

  • Fresh Start at TCC
    This Tacoma Community College program gives students the opportunity to complete their high school diploma requirements in a mature setting while accumulating college credit.​

  • Interim Alternative Educational Setting (IAES)
    A program designed to maintain basic skills while a student has been expelled or suspended for bringing weapons or drugs to school, or causing serious bodily injury to others.

  • Madison Complex
    Offers early learning (Head Start) and family education programs

  • Oakland High School
    Provides an alternative approach to education in a caring, student-centered climate.

  • Pierce County Education Center
    Serves students at the Pierce County Jail

  • Pearl Street Center
    Serves youth, ages 12-18, committed to Comprehensive Mental Health Center’s locked, residential program for adolescents with serious mental illness.

  • Willard Early Learning Center
    Offers early learning (Head Start & ECAEP) and family education programs

  • Willie Stewart Academy – A Reengagement Center
    Serves students ages 17-21 who are significantly credit deficient work toward graduation
