Oakland High School

Oakland High School sits five miles west of downtown Tacoma, Washington and enrolls 250-300 students ages 14 to 21.

Oakland is an accredited high school and serves students in a smaller, supportive environment. Unlike the larger comprehensive

high schools in the Tacoma School District, Oakland operates on a quarter-based calendar system. Students take four 75-minute classes

each quarter. In essence, students can complete a minimum of 16 classes in one academic year. Moreover, students have the opportunity

to earn additional credits through our work based learning program, online classes, independent study courses, volunteer hours, etc.

We are also unique as we offer a day care for the children of teen parents so they can work towards graduation.

How we're doing

To measure progress toward meeting the School Board’s strategic goals, we use a set of benchmarks that let parents and community members track our progress. It’s like a report card for our school and the whole district.
