Manitou Park Elementary School

History of Manitou Park

Manitou Park Elementary School was founded on May 6, 1911. The first school, known as Manitou Park School, began in a portable in 1911, with Sara Cochrane teaching the first three grades in a one-room building. By 1919, the district built a four-room school on a new Manitou site. Additions and remodeling occurred in 1924, 1957 and 1967.

The current building at 4330 S. 66th St. opened in 1994. Through it all, the staff, community and students have continued their commitment to educational excellence and academic achievement. On Oct. 26, Manitou celebrated 100 years of rich history of growth and commitment to education.
