The Maintenance and Operations department maintains 55 schools and 7 support buildings, covering more than 5 million square feet of learning and administrative spaces.
The Maintenance team maintains and repairs district facilities through a variety of building trades including electrical, carpentry, mechanical, painting, plumbing, HVAC, grounds care and labor support.
The Operations department provides custodial services to district facilities through maintaining healthy, safe and clean evironments for teaching and learning in support of the district's instructional, extracurricular and athletic programs.
Our Facilities staff coordinate the use of playfields and district buildings to maximize student opportunities and community benefit.
The City of Tacoma is located on Puget Sound, the nation's most beautiful salt water inland sea, in the heart of the Pacific Northwest's evergreen playground. Tacoma has an area of nearly 48 square miles including 66 miles of shoreline. Tacoma School District No. 10 is the third-largest district in Washington state, serving approximately 29,000 children in kindergarten through grade 12. The District consists of over 60 sites, 35 elementary schools, 1 intermediate school, 9 middle schools, 7 high schools and 6 alternative learning centers and 5 administrative facilities. The District encompasses 56 square miles and has more than 4,500 full- and part-time employees.
