Parking on Campus
We do not have enough parking on our campus for every student who drives. Parking is on a first-come, first-serve basis. It is essential that we treat our neighbors with respect. Below is a parking map where it is appropriate and where it is not to park on the IDEA campus and surrounding city streets. If you cannot find a space in the parking lot, you need to park on a side street. Please do not:
  • block a neighbors driveway
  • park on their lawn or property
  • park in front of their mailbox, trash or recycling cans or other personal property
Please also understand that parking on our campus is a privelage and not a right. If you are caught speeding, in your car during school hours, or parking illegally we reserve the right to restrict your ability to park on campus. Please also recognize that we reserve the right to search your car at any time.

Pierce Transit

Students will receive an ORCA card at camp from Colleen in the main office. If they did not receive an ORCA card or if they need to purchase a replacement for a lost or stolen card, they can do so in the main office with Colleen at any time.

The two closest bus stops to IDEA are the 45 on the corner of South 64th and Yakima and the 1 on the corner of 67th and Pacific

IDEA Shuttle
IDEA also has a shuttle that is based out of our campus throughout the school day. This shuttle takes students down to SOTA during lunch at 11:20 for afternoon SOTA classes (where students can also catch a shuttle out to SAMI) and brings students back to IDEA who have classes in the morning at SOTA or SAMI. The shuttle also takes many classes to our partnering sites which are listed below. Your student will recieve a campus boundary permission slip in the first couple of weeks of school giving the permission to access these additional sites.

  • East Side Community Center
  • Wapato Park
  • Metro Parks STAR Center
  • RAIN Incubator
  • SOTA Campus
  • SAMI Campus
  • East Side Community Garden
