This year the 5th grade is responsible for the big musical that is performed at Tacoma Little Theatre. We study the musical in class for six weeks,  learning all the songs, and adding vocal harmony and instrumentation. The musical for 2013-4 is "A Long Walk Home", adapted from the story of the "Wizard of Oz" by Frank Baum..  Every 5th grader has the opportunity to begin orchestra and band at Jason Lee and has the opportunity to go hear the Tacoma symphony in the spring.  5th graders participate in the Classroom Based Performance Assessments in Music, and they will receive a grade for this assessment in the spring on their report card.
