Dedicated volunteers can mentor and inspire students and provide new opportunities beyond what schools can. Whether you are a member of your community with no children in school, a parent interested in helping in a classroom or a motivated student looking to give back, Tacoma Public Schools can use your help!
Become a volunteer
Step 1- Complete the application below that best fits your role (parent, community member, volunteer coach, etc.).
Step 2- Contact the school where you want to volunteer to submit your application and to learn about the available volunteer opportunities at that school.
Please allow up to 2 weeks to complete the application and background clearance process.

About Tacoma
The city of Tacoma, located on Puget Sound in the heart of the Pacific Northwest's "evergreen playground," has nearly 66 miles of shoreline and many parks, including Point Defiance Park - one of the largest urban parks in the US - with a world-class zoo and aquarium. The city of Seattle, ocean beaches and mountains are all within easy driving distance.
Tacoma has a culturally diverse population of over 200,000. People of all ages enjoy numerous museums, such as the Washington State Historical Museum, the Tacoma Art Museum and the Museum of Glass; theater productions; art galleries; a fine library system; musical entertainment; and many local events. The Tacoma Dome hosts sports and entertainment activities, and Cheney Stadium is home to a professional AAA baseball team.
Tacoma also has several universities: the University of Puget Sound, Pacific Lutheran University and the University of Washington Tacoma. Joint Base Lewis McChord and Madigan Army Hospital further enhance the Tacoma community.
