Public Transportation

Everyone 18 years old and younger can ride public transportation for free with the Free Youth Pass!

How it works

Youth can ride public transportation for free on Pierce Transit, Sound Transit and more! Riders age 13 and older are encouraged to use one of the following, if they have it:

1. Youth ORCA Card
Riders can tap a Youth ORCA card, also known as Free Youth Transit Pass, when boarding the bus. You can get your ORCA card for free at your school's main office, or online.

If you kept the Youth ORCA card issued by your school during the 2021-22 academic year, it will continue to work through June 30, 2023. You must update your youth ORCA card by registering it online so that it will continue to work until your nineteenth birthday.

2. Current student ID
Show the bus driver your student ID when you board.

Youth who do not have one of these can still ride for free. Riders under the age of 13 do not need to show proof of pass.
