Online Tutoring Support
Students can access free tutoring seven days a week.
Live tutoring, paper review, math question drop off, and SAT/ACT preparation are available for free from Tutor.com for Tacoma Public Schools students in grades 3-12. All sessions are recorded so students can review their information on their own or refer back to it during future tutoring sessions.
How to access
- Students can access Tutor.com by logging into their Schoology account, selecting a course, and then selecting Tutor.com from the menu on the left side of the screen. Tutorial video below.
- Tacoma Online students in grades 6-12 can access Tutor.com through their Clever account.
- Families can watch a demonstration of the service on Youtube.

Types of help available from Tutor.com
Live Tutoring
Students have access to a live online tutor (chat or voice) from 2 – 11 p.m. every day to receive support in:
- Math: Elementary math, middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra I and II
- Writing: Citations, creative writing, essay writing, research papers, technical writing
- Social studies
- U.S. and world history
- Geography
- Study skills: Conducting research, getting organized, taking notes, managing time and stress, creating healthy habits
Submit a paper
Students can:
- Upload/submit a paper or homework assignment for review
- Get targeted grade level support
- Get targeted focus for support; for example, writing organization or development, grammar, punctuation and word choice
- Get feedback from a tutor within 24 hours
Drop off a math question
Students can:
- Upload/submit a completed homework assignment for review
- Get targeted grade level support
- Get feedback from a tutor within 24 hours
Prep for SAT/ACT
Students can:
- Take full-length practice tests
- View detailed score reports with noted areas of help
- Watch video lessons with test taking strategies
- Practice drills that help hone their skills with sample problems
