Middle School Summer Learning

Students who just completed kindergarten through 8^th grade can use their school-supplied laptops to access iReady online learning. 

iReady provides:

• Personalized lessons in reading and math
• Practice based on your child’s skill level
• Self-paced learning
• Progress tracking for families

Students can log in anytime during the summer from any location with internet access. This helps prevent the “summer slide” and keeps skills strong for the next school year.

6th grade Jump Start helps students transition smoothly into the academic and social environment of middle school. It provides support in academics, social integration and the practical skills necessary for success in middle school.

The Multilingual Learner Newcomer Summer Learning Program provides newly arrived students in Grades 6–12 the opportunity to enhance their English language development and academic readiness skills.

Date: July 6 – August 6, 2026
Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Monday – Thursday; No school on Fridays)
Location: Lincoln High School, 701 S. 37th St., Tacoma, WA 98418
Transportation:

• Parents are responsible for arranging transportation.
• Students may use free public transportation (city bus) with a student ID.

Program Highlights:

• English Language Development: Improve English proficiency through immersive activities, interactive lessons, and engaging conversation practice.
• Academic Preparation: Strengthen and expand grade-level skills to ensure readiness for the upcoming school year.
• Social and Emotional Support: Build connections and confidence through team-building activities, group discussions, and fun recreational outings.

Our Student Services, Special Education, Extended School Year program (ESY) provides continued learning for students who qualify through their Individualized Education Program (IEP). 

IEP case managers will work with families and share information for students who qualify for ESY services.
