Agreements

The district sometimes enters into long-term agreements with community partners to optimize shared opportunities and community spaces.

This work generally applies to ground leases or specialized agreements regarding the planning or construction of new facilities on district or partner properties. Short-term leases or general facility use is managed by Student Life. Master agreements and leases are managed by Finance.

Current or recent examples include:

  • The construction of the Maritime 253 Skills Center on Port property. This program will offer maritime career skill building to more than 600 students a year from districts throughout the region.
  • The construction of “Community Schoolyardson TPS property as part of a partnership with Metro Parks Tacoma and Trust for Public Lands. This joint investment in community recreation spaces increases the percent of residents who can access a park within a 10-minute walk.
  • The construction of an all-season baseball field at Metro Parks’ former Peck site. This new field will serve as the home field for Stadium High School and Hilltop Heritage baseball teams, as well as increase year-round field access for a variety of community sports needs.
