The Home Care Aide Certification Program provides training for individuals looking to enter the growing field of home healthcare. This program equips students with the foundational skills and knowledge needed to provide high-quality care to elderly, disabled, or chronically ill individuals in home settings.

Participants will receive hands-on instruction in personal care assistance, infection control, nutrition, mobility support, and communication techniques. The curriculum also includes CPR and First Aid training, safety procedures, and legal and ethical considerations for caregivers. Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to take the state certification exam to become a licensed Home Care Aide (HCA).

Summer 2025 Program Details

  • Application deadline: May 18 is the priority deadline. Applications received after the deadline may be considered if there is space.
  • Program dates: June 25 - July 17 (no class on July 3, 4 or 11). Program times are between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Program location: Hunt Middle School
  • Notification of selected applicants: Early June
  • Approximate hours to complete: 90
  • Certification(s) offered: Home Care Aide Certification (Orientation, Safety Training, Mental Health, Dementia, Core Basic, Food Worker, CPR)
    • Students who earn their 75-hour certificate (above) will be prepared to take the WA State Home Care Aide Certification Exam (written and skills).  TPS covers the cost of the exam if you are 18.
  • Credits toward graduation: 0.5 CTE Credits 
  • Total spots available: 20
  • Special considerations for this program: Must be at least 18 years old to receive the HCA certification. Younger students may apply and learn the HCA content but are not eligible to test for the certification until they turn 18.
