Culinary ServSafe Certification
Program Description
This comprehensive ServSafe Certification Course is designed for food service professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge of food safety and sanitation. The course covers essential topics such as proper food handling, storage, personal hygiene, cross-contamination prevention, and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principles.
The course includes interactive lessons, real-world case studies, and a final proctored exam. Successful completion of the exam results in an official ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification, accredited by the National Restaurant Association.
This culinary program offers students a unique opportunity to develop their cooking skills by designing their own lunches each day. Students can experiment with flavors and ingredients to create meals that are both nutritious and visually appealing. The course emphasizes the art of culinary design, focusing on ingredient selection, recipe development, and presentation skills.

Hands-On Learning:
The program emphasizes active learning through real-time cooking, from prep work to plating in a fully equipped kitchen. -
Fundamental Culinary Techniques:
Students gain experience in knife skills, sautéing, grilling, and baking while also learning advanced techniques such as emulsification, sauce reduction, and artful presentation. -
Ingredient Mastery:
Focus is placed on selecting seasonal, fresh ingredients and understanding flavor profiles. Lessons cover balancing flavors, incorporating herbs and spices, and pairing complementary tastes to create gourmet dishes. -
Nutritional Insight:
In addition to cooking, the program educates students on nutritional balance, ensuring that every meal is as nutritious and flavorful. -
Creativity and Innovation:
The course encourages students to experiment with fusion cuisine and creative recipe modifications, fostering an environment where culinary artistry meets practical skill.
Summer 2025 Program Details
- Application window open: May 18 is the priority deadline. Applications received after the deadline may be considered if there is space.
- Program dates: June 25 - July 16 (no class on July 3, 4, or 11). Program times are between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
- Meeting location: Lincoln High School
- Notify selected applicants: Early June
- Approximate hours to complete: 90
- Certifications: ServSafe and Financial Literacy through EverFi.
- Credits toward graduation: .5 CTE Credits
- Total spots available: 20
