This program provides an overview of careers pathways and certification programs offered through Tacoma Public Schools. The program includes earning entry-level certifications, tours of local businesses, discussions centering around career choices, and visiting other Summer Certification Programs. Anticipated tour experiences will include:
Plumber & Pipefitters training facility
Port of Tacoma
Construction site for the new Mary Bridge hospital
GAF roofing training facility
City of Tacoma's environmental services facilities
Other Summer Certification Programs: Wildland Fire, Merchant Mariner, Drone, Home Care Aid and Warehouse Logistics
Program Highlights:
Career Exploration: Engage in interactive sessions with industry experts, company visits, and job shadowing opportunities across multiple fields.
Hands-On Training: Participate in workshops and hands-on activities to develop practical skills in high-demand industries such as healthcare, construction, technology and more.

Summer 2025 Program Details
Application window open: May 18 is the priority deadline. Applications received after the deadline may be considered if there is space.
Program dates: June 25 - July 15 (no class July 3, 4, and 11). Program times are between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Meeting location: Hunt Middle School
Notify selected applicants: Early June
Approximate hours to complete: 90 hours
Certifications: Food worker card and Financial Literacy through EverFi
