Whittier Elementary School Replacement Project
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Whittier Elementary, built in 1962, serves K-3 students in Fircrest.
The existing Whittier will be demolished, with construction of the new school slated from 2026 to 2027. Staff and students will stay in their existing building during construction of the new school.
This project is funded by the $535 million school construction bond voters passed in 2020.
PROJECT STATUS
A ceremonially groundbreaking was held on May 27, 2026. The project is now under construction. Students will remain on site during construction.
Expected opening: September 2027
