Whittier Elementary School Replacement Project
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Whittier Elementary, built in 1962, serves K-3 students in Fircrest.
The existing Whittier will be demolished, with construction of the new school slated from 2026 to 2027. Staff and students will stay in their existing building during construction of the new school.
This project is funded by the $535 million school construction bond voters passed in 2020.
PROJECT STATUS
The project will celebrate a ceremonially groundbreaking on May 27 with construction officially beginning Summer 2026.
Expected opening: September 2027
