High School Athletics and Activities

Requirements for participating in athletics

Students attending non-traditional high schools

Tacoma Online students need to contact Student Life at studentlife@tacoma.k12.wa.us to confirm their school of residence before registering for athletics. 

Students attending SAMI, SOTA, IDEA, Oakland, homeschool, charter school or another high school equivalent program may be eligible to compete for their resident comprehensive high school. Please contact your resident high school's athletic director. 

Homeschool, private and charter school students must be fully enrolled in Tacoma Public Schools to include immunization records and emergency health information.

Lincoln, Mt. Tahoma, Stadium and Silas compete within the 3A classification in the Pierce County League. Foss competes at the 2A level in the South Puget Sound League.

Eligible high school students compete in both the Pierce County League and South Puget Sound League. Our member schools are part of West Central District III and the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA). Our student-athletes have the ability to participate in as many as 21 different athletic offerings at the school level.
