As Washington State’s oldest IB World School, Foss has been preparing students to take on the world for over 30 years. The International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma program is a challenging and internationally accepted college-prep curriculum. IB students can graduate with up to one year of college credit, are more likely to get into the college of their choice and more likely to graduate. The aim of all IB programs is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity, help to create a better and more peaceful world. This elite and rigorous program is offered in tandem with all the benefits of a comprehensive high school.

The school is dedicated to growing scholars and champions who explore and create a better world. Lincoln is a school united with purpose, grounded in a community rich in culture, supported by each other in becoming absolutely better every day. As the City’s second oldest high school it is renowned in the community for its timeless beauty. Lincoln opened its doors in 1914 and the school was completely renovated in 2007, with many of the school’s outstanding architectural details restored or updated.

Baker Middle School believes in empowered learning opportunities for all stakeholders. They utilize inclusive practices and opportunities that stretch students and help them recognize their fullest potential. Progressive teachings strategies meet students where they all while helping them to advance through rigorous instruction. Staff use data to drive decisions while committing to knowing each student as an individual. Baker is an integral part of the Southside Tacoma community, doors are open beyond school hours with opportunities for enrichment, support and collaboration beyond the traditional school day. And all Baker teachers continue their commitment to meeting National Board Certification standards.
Learning through exploration is key to Baker’s culture. Students schedules allow for additional elective courses such as art, music, and robotics – empowering students to find their individual interests and passions. Additionally, Baker provides extensive after-school programs with the Bulldog Center. Students participating in this national pilot program with the YMCA receive at least 30 minutes of tutoring, a healthy snack, participate in a physical activity and rotate through enrichment activities such as art, cultural dance, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

Global exploration takes place every day at Giaudrone Middle School. The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years program provides a curriculum foundation that encourages and supports exploration, a global mindset and independent thinking. Students study a foreign language, humanities, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical education and technology. The AB schedule at Giaudrone provides more opportunity for students to explore electives and find their passions. A sense of ownership and responsibility for education is exactly what Giaudrone aims to cultivate. After students leave Giaudrone, they have the option of continuing their IB education at Foss IB World School.
