The percentage of students earning a 'C' or better in English Language Arts.
Understanding the data
The benchmark displays the percentage of 8th grade students earning a 'C' or better in their English/Language Arts course at the end of each semester.
Because a school year includes two calendar years, such as 2019-2020, the school year on the benchmark chart is identified by the second calendar year. For example, the 2019-2020 school year is identified as 2020 on the chart.
The data can be viewed by district, region, school, and race. It can be further filtered by gender, English Language Learner status, free and reduced lunch status, special education status, and race.
Number of 8th grade students earning a grade of 'C' or higher divided by the total number of 8th grade students enrolled in English/Language Arts courses.
Data retrieval schedule
Report card data is maintained in the student information system and is loaded to the data warehouse at the close of each semester.
Our current reports show data from the 2018 school year and beyond using improved reporting tools. Legacy reports show older data using older tools.
