Policy No. 2422
Instruction

Homework will be given in varying degrees, at age-appropriate developmental stages, from prekindergarten through twelfth grades. A mix of teacher-assigned homework and student-choice projects is encouraged.

When properly conceived, and carefully designed, presented and monitored with timely, constructive feedback by the teacher, homework fosters development of independence, effective effort, self-discipline and responsibility, and can serve as an extension of the classroom.

The use of homework requires cooperation among teachers, students, and parents. The district will provide guidance and direction for the successful implementation of this policy.

The superintendent is authorized to develop and implement the necessary regulations for the administration of this policy.
