The Board of Directors of the Tacoma School District recognizes that volunteering connects students to their communities and provides an opportunity for students to practice and apply their academic and social skills in preparation for being ready for college, career, and life beyond high school. The Board further recognizes that community service is associated with increased civic engagement. The students of the District are encouraged to participate in community service activities. The Superintendent and/or the Superintendent’s designee(s) are to adopt a Regulation to encourage and recognize student community service.
