The district shall utilize summer school to give extra instruction to students with special needs, implement and evaluate innovative teaching strategies, pilot new curriculum and special projects and grant credit for courses as approved by the superintendent or his/her designee.

Enrollment of students in summer school shall be voluntary. Once enrolled, attendance may affect the student's final grade.

Fees shall be established by the board of directors. Disabled students who are determined to be eligible for extended school year services by the IEP team shall not be charged a fee.

The superintendent is authorized to develop and implement the necessary regulations for the administration of this policy.
