New Hunt close to the finish line

Drive by the Hunt site at Mildred and S. 10th streets and you can’t miss the construction progress of the new Hunt school, leaving less than 20 percent of the work remaining until the school is complete.

New curbs with ADA ramps are being placed at the corners of South 8th and Mildred to improve safety at the intersection. Concrete paving continues at the courtyard and walks adjacent the commons and building service areas. All asphalt paving on site will be complete in early July.

Construction at Hunt Middle School

Workers are preparing to install synthetic turf on the football field. At the softball field, workers are constructing curb around the synthetic turf outfield. The layout for the baseball diamond, bases and dugout are now complete.

Fencing is going in along the north side of the property at Vassault and around the football field. New fence posts will soon be visible along 8th and 10th streets, below the “mothership.”

Inside the building, crews are installing flooring in the commons and administration areas, and they finished installing wood flooring in the gym this week.

The new Hunt is expected to open this fall, with principal Kim Messersmith leading the way. To keep up with the Hunt construction project, go to buildingforachievement.com.
