Holiday Helpers come to Geiger

The team building the new Hunt Middle School packed and delivered 50 holiday food boxes for Geiger Montessori and other TPS families.

Absher Construction’s Holiday Lights program supports families in need who live in communities where they’re working on a construction project. The program provides food, blankets, coats, sweaters and shoes during the holiday season.

Absher and its partners, including project owners, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers, raise money for food baskets and other items. Jim King-Talik, site superintendent on the Hunt project, led the donation effort and was helped by Liane McNaughton, Geiger school counselor, Neil O’Brien, Geiger principal, and the TPS Community Partnership Office. In total, 23 Geiger families received food baskets from Absher, along with and 27 Tacoma families across the school district.

The new Hunt Middle School is under construction and is expected to open in 2021.
