Goodbye for now, Hunt Middle School
Hunt Middle School demolition

The old Hunt Middle School is making way for the new one, with most of the original building – built in 1958 – now demolished.

Some of the old gym floor will see new use in the new Hunt as accent walls, and roof beams will be turned into benches in the new school.

And, yes, the Hunt dome stays! Tacoma Public Schools is making the space ready for use by the Morgan Family YMCA summer day camp that will be displaced while their facility is undergoing replacement.

The new school is scheduled to open in fall 2021.
