All of his life, Ben has had a lot to say, but he couldn’t get it out. Ben, a Foss High School freshman, has autism coupled with a speech disability, making it difficult to express himself verbally. This year, Ben started learning to share his feelings and speak with the help of an iPad. His mom likened it to an awakening for her son.
This single piece of technology is Ben’s link to the world, allowing him to more fully participate in his own learning, relationships - and life.
Ben’s technology is made possible by a voter-approved technology levy. The school district’s ability to continue to provide technology access to Ben and all TPS students will be presented to voters in a levy on the Feb. 8 ballot.
