Students in grades K-3 can watch daily lessons on the KTPS TV (Comcast Channel 26 or Click/Rainier Connect Channel 25) or YouTube. Each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays there is a new 45-minute episodes, taught by two Tacoma teachers, focused on math, literacy, and social-emotional activities by grade level. Each Wednesday episode features a special guest.

Tacoma’s TV Classroom now has its own YouTube channel, where families can watch episodes. The channel is organized by grade level, allowing viewers to easily find lessons. Parents can also find overviews, including supply list on our district website.

Ms. Walle teaches math K-3 and Ms. Ozolin teaches literacy K-3. Each lesson incorporates social emotional components and a short brain break between the math and literacy component. All lessons align with classroom curriculum.

“Our TV lessons are an amazing resource for K-3 students and families,” said Marie Verhaar, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning. “Especially now that we are transitioning to a hybrid model, students can watch lessons on remote learning days.”
