Any student 18 or younger can get free breakfast and lunch packs five days a week this fall, starting Sept. 9, thanks to a change announced Aug. 31 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
This news from the USDA changes what Tacoma Public Schools previously announced about meal service this fall. Now, no pre-orders or student identification are necessary to pick up a meal.
Meal packs contain a breakfast and lunch.
How to pick up meals
Students can pick up meals from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday-Friday at Baker, First Creek, Giaudrone, Gray, Jason Lee, Mason, Meeker, Stewart, Truman and Wainwright, as well as scheduled stops on 33 routes through district neighborhoods (see map).
Students, parents or guardians can pick up meals.
Menus will be available soon.
