While all students are receiving free meals due to the pandemic, it’s still important to apply for free or reduced-price meals for this school year if you haven’t already.
There are many benefits associated with qualifying for free or reduced-price meals:
- Children eligible for free or reduced-price meals are automatically qualified to receive retroactive 'Pandemic EBT’ grocery benefits worth hundreds of dollars per child. These funds are loaded onto a P-EBT card and sent automatically to qualifying families to activate. Newly qualifying families will receive benefits retroactive to September and funds will be added through the summer as well.
- Families who qualify may be eligible for free and discounted services, such as discounted broadband via the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program.
- Schools receive additional funding for educational support services based on the number of students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
Families can submit applications online at https://www.mealappnow.com/mantac at any time during the school year. Only one application is required per household. Nutrition Services will notify families by mail if the application is approved or denied.
Call Nutrition Services at 253-571-3370 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to get a paper application.
If families have already received a qualification letter for the 2020-21 school year, they do not need to fill out another application.
