Remote Learning versus Tacoma Online At-a-Glance
2020 Fall Learning Options - Remote or Tacoma Online:
Parents and guardians can choose between a remote learning option or register their student in the new Tacoma Online self-paced learning experience. While they sound similar, they have some key differences.

Students will begin the year learning remotely from home and transition back to the classroom at their homeschool when it's safe to do so |
Students will learn from home for the entire 2020-2021 school year (they can opt into remote/hybrid learning at a trimester or semester break) |
Students are in groups with other students from their grade and home school |
Students will be grouped with others in their grade from across the district, not necessarily students from their home school |
Classes are taught by teachers from the student’s home school |
Classes are taught by Tacoma teachers, but not necessarily teachers from the student’s home school |
Classes will follow a set daily schedule which includes a mix of work on and off the computer |
Schedules allow students to work at their own pace |
Students will use the Schoology learning platform to submit school work |
Students will use the Edgenuity learning platform |
No registration is needed |
Registration is required. Priority registration for Tacoma Online has closed. While we will continue to accept registrations for Tacoma Online to create a waiting list, families should plan to start the school year in Remote Learning. |
