Students must earn at least 23 credits in specified subject areas. One high school credit is 150 hours of planned instructional activity approved by the district (
WAC 180-51-050). In most cases, one-half credit is awarded for each successfully completed class. Credits by subject area required for graduation:
- Language Arts – 4.0
- Mathematics – 2.0*
- Science – 2.0
- Social Studies – 2.5
- Art – 1.0
- Health – 1.0
- Fitness (PE) – 1.0
- Occupational Education – 1.0
- Electives – 8.5
TOTAL – 23.0

* Students entering 9th grade on or after July 1, 2009 must take 3 mathematics credits taken in a progressive sequence:
- Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2;
- Integrated Mathematics 1, Integrated Mathematics 2, Integrated Mathematics 3;
- Equivalent Career and Technical Education courses and any preceding mathematics courses listed above may be used in accordance with RCW 28A.230.097.
