Thank you goes to Emily Bannon, district instructional facilitator, for attending Washington-Hoyt Elementary School’s Coffee with the Principal on Friday, Nov. 7, and speaking about the updates with Instructional Technology in the Tacoma School District. Parents who attended also had the opportunity to observe the new laptop lab in use in a fourth-grade classroom—a beautiful sight to see each student with a laptop on his or her desk engaged in learning and writing—as well as a second-grade classroom in the computer lab signing in and taking an Accelerated Reader test.
Bannon also shared how parents are able to log into the Renaissance Place for the Home Connect to view goals, results of last quiz taken and overall progress in Accelerated Reader (AR). She showed parents how they could use this tool to find books that had AR quizzes and view “My Bookshelf” which shows all the books on which quizzes have been taken. The parents were delighted that you came to share and spend time at Washington-Hoyt! —Principal Karen Fynboe, Washington-Hoyt E.S.
The Washington-Hoyt E.S. teachers would like to thank Emily Bannon, for the outstanding class for our staff on the waiver day! Bannon received "rave reviews" during our debriefing at the end of the day! Thank you, again to Emily Bannon who made our technology learning experiences productive and within our comfort zone. —Washington-Hoyt Teachers
