Three teachers in the Tacoma Public Schools had their Day Made Better on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m. and were among the 1,000 teachers nationwide who were surprised with nearly $1,000 of classroom supplies and resources by OfficeMax representatives through the Adopt-A-Classroom program. This third annual “A Day Made Better” event was filled with cheers and tears as schools celebrated their winners.
Danielle Hall at Franklin, Ann Baxter at Edison and Bryan Johnson at Lister were recognized for their efforts in the classroom with a new chair and huge orange box of supplies including a camera and printer.
The non-profit Adopt-A-Classroom recognizes that many teachers across the country spend their own money providing supplies for their classrooms when school districts cannot afford to provide them. The program works to erase teacher-funded classrooms and encourages national support with donations from OfficeMax. Approximately $1 million worth of classroom supplies were given out to school teachers across the country on Oct. 6.
