The state bus count week will be Sept. 29–Oct. 3. If you have students who normally ride a school bus, please encourage their families to have the students ride the bus in the mornings when bus drivers will take the count. The counts then will be sent to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. School districts receive state funding for bus transportation for every basic education and special education student who rides their bus during the count week. Call the district’s Transportation office at 253.571.1853 if you have any questions.
Please note: In the United States, International Walk to School Day will be Oct. 8 this year and does not conflict with the state bus count week. This event promotes safe walking and bicycling throughout the year. Check the Web site at www.walktoschool-usa.org for more information.
