Jan. 19 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Birthday Celebration

There is no school for students on Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
 
You are invited to attend the City of Tacoma's annual Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday celebration at the Tacoma Dome on Monday, Jan. 19. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for a free continental breakfast. The celebration begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. Admission is free and tickets are available from the Tacoma Dome, www.tacomadome.org.

A community march to the Tacoma Dome has been scheduled prior to the celebration from two convenient starting points. At 9 a.m., a march will begin from the Bates Technical College downtown campus on 11th and Yakima Avenue and join around 10 a.m. at Tollefson Plaza on 17th and Pacific Avenue. Bus transportation back to Bates and Tollefson Plaza will be available after the march and community event.
