Longshore and warehouse union helps TPS families

Dragan Butorac of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 23 of Tacoma delivered 50 grocery/department store gift certificates for $200 to the Tacoma Public Schools' School, Family and Community Partnership office. The gift certificates were given to one family at each elementary school, based on the counselors’ recommendations, and 13 went to the Park Avenue site.

This is the ninth year in a row that the ILWU Local 23 has helped Tacoma Public Schools families during the holidays. Counselors nominated students who are striving to succeed academically and display outstanding effort with a desire to learn.
