Invitation for public preview of a new Web-based student information system for Tacoma schools

The district invites parents and staff members to preview a new student information system for K-12 under consideration for use in district schools. This public preview will take place Tuesday, July 19, from 5–7 p.m., and Thursday, July 28, at 5 p.m., before the board meeting at the Central Administration Building, 601 S. 8th St., Board Room located on the fourth floor.

Working with a team of district leaders, evaluation committee and technology staff members, the district will phase in the eSchoolPLUS system for students, parents and teachers districtwide beginning in 2012, if approved by the School Board. On July 28, the district’s Technology Services Director Shaun Taylor will ask the Board to approve a new student information system called eSchoolPLUS.

The eSchoolPLUS system is a high-impact student information system for K-12 schools that provides Web-based access to summary and detailed student information for administrators, teachers, parents and students in real-time.

Representatives from the SunGard Company and the district’s Technology Services Department will provide an overview of the key features of the eSchoolPLUS system and will answer questions.
