Parents or guardians who wish to send their students to a Montessori school have two schools to choose from in Tacoma. Geiger and Bryant Montessori schools are accepting preschool students for the 2011-2012 school year.

What does preschool look like?
Preschoolers attend school the same times as elementary students from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. They follow the district calendar for days of attendance. Three, four and five year old students are grouped together in multi-age classrooms, where they will stay until they transition to lower elementary classes–first through third grades.
Will there be a cost for the preschool program?
Rates for 2011-2012 will be $650/month, with a $25 registration fee.
Are there restrictions on who can attend?
Yes, students must be completely potty-trained. In addition, they must be at least three years old by Sept. 1.
Do I have to reside in the Tacoma School District to attend Geiger or Bryant?
No. You will simply be asked to provide a signed release from your home school district.
Will there be district sponsored transportation for preschool students?
Preschool students are not permitted to use district transportation. However, there will be licensed childcare on site through the YMCA. They are licensed for DSHS childcare, and offer some scholarships.
How do I enroll?
School offices will be open Aug. 1-4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and again on Aug. 23 until the start of school. Registration packets can be picked up at the school’s main office.
