Five Community Conversation Circles, sponsored by the Tacoma Public Schools (TPS) and Tacoma Education Association (TEA), will be held in November and December from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at various district schools. TEA President Darrick Hartman said, “The conversation circles will be used to gather input from parents and community members about their perceptions of the importance of education, what barriers families face and what the district can do to help support families. The circles are a way for the district to listen to the community and work on developing trust. We want to hear what we can do to make things better for everyone.”
A facilitator will lead small-group discussions at the conversation circles to be held:
- Nov. 5: Jason Lee Middle School, 602 N. Sprague Ave.
- Nov. 19: Wilson High School, 1202 N. Orchard St.
- Nov. 24: Giaudrone Middle School, 4902 S. Alaska St.
- Dec. 8: Gray Middle School, 6229 S. Tyler St.
- Dec. 16: Stewart Middle School, 5010 Pacific Ave.
A light meal will be provided. Child care and interpreters will also be available.
