Bryant Montessori to become peace site Nov. 14

Bryant Montessori School will install and dedicate a peace pole at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, to become the first international peace site in the Tacoma School District.

As a peace site, Bryant students commit to upholding these principles:

  •  Protect the environment
  •  Promote intercultural understanding and celebrate diversity
  • Seek peace within yourself and others
  • Reach out in service
  • Be a responsible citizen of the world

Students wrote or drew their commitment to being a peaceful citizen in the classroom and presented it at a September school assembly, along with hundreds of paper cranes. They have been meeting after school to write press releases, create invitations, write reflections, plan music and prepare the front of the school for the installation of the peace pole and peace garden.

Contact parent Kim Ebert-Coley at 253.468.8630 or e-mail her at kimebert@nventure.com for more information or if you would like to help with this event.

Please note: The First United Methodist Church installed a new peace pole at the church's new site on Tacoma Avenue South on Aug. 6.
