Board member Kurt Miller to direct REACH

School board member Kurt Miller has been selected as the director for Resources for Education and Career Help (REACH), a partnership of agencies that will be housed in Tacoma Goodwill’s new Milgard Work Opportunity Center. REACH, a separate organization from Goodwill, brings together federally funded agencies that will be able to expand services to at-risk young adults.

The partnership is already working, said Matthew Erlich, media relations/public relations manager for Tacoma Goodwill Industries, in his press release. “Among Miller’s first tasks is placing up to 400 young adults, ages 14–24, in jobs for six weeks between June and August. The program is part of $2.5 million in federal stimulus money coming to Pierce County as part of a Youth Endowment Program.”

The REACH partnership is the centerpiece of Goodwill’s Milgard Work Opportunity Center and will feature a “job fair” atmosphere with one-stop opportunities for young adults to receive the services they need.
