Your telecommunications team consists of one staff member supporting 6,000 telephones and 7,000 direct inward dial telephone numbers (DID). All offices, conference rooms and classrooms are furnished with telephones and have the ability to utilize voice mail services.
The district telephone system has 11 T1s and is supported on the district’s Institutional Network (I-NET), a 1 gigabit fiber optic ring encompassing the greater portion of the city of Tacoma. The I-NET is divided into 15 sub-rings which allows continual service to district sites even in the event of a break in the ring.
Each school is supported by their own PBX switch. Started in July 2005 and continuing for the next six (6) years, the district is converting and upgrading all school and administrative sites to a new state-of-the-art Avaya PBX switch. These feature rich, modern systems that will bring performance enhancements and visual improvements to the typical classroom phones as a means of improving communication. A significant cost savings through e-rate funding will assist the district in the PBX and Voice Mail procurement process.
We provide support services for the installation, repair and training for all district supported telecommunication services. By maintaining the databases for the telephone system, Enhanced 911 services, the district telephone directory and an inventory of telephone equipment, you can be assured your repair calls will be completed in a timely manner. We can respond to questions regarding voice mail activation, telephone adds, moves and changes in service, or assistance with your telephone billing.
