The goal of the Instructional Technology Department of Tacoma Public Schools is to create engaging and relevant lessons for teachers and librarians to present and integrate into their curriculum. Our charge is to have all students technologically literate by the time they graduate from the 8th grade. Our team of Instructional Facilitators is working hard to make this happen.

My primary roles and responsibilities include supporting teachers/staff in the 35 elementary schools with instructional tech questions (how to use, how to do, how to integrate, etc.), creating support resources (handouts, video tutorials, etc.), and providing professional development opportunities when available (PDC, on-site, webinars).

Sherri Desseau, 3-5 Facilitator

My roles this year will be to support TPS staff with the transition to SharePoint and eSchoolPLUS, our new Student Information System. I will be working with teachers as they use SharePoint to access data about their class, collaborate with their students, and develop their websites. As the district begins to roll our pars of eSchoolPLUS, I will be working again with teachers to understand how to use this new system.

The new buildings are full of amazing tools to help create dynamic lessons and engage our students; working together we can integrate these technologies into daily classroom activities. Please let me know how I can help you use these tools in your classroom.
