Challenge Program Assessment Criteria

Elementary and Middle School
Assessment and Testing Process and Criteria
 
Elementary 2nd grade (Applying for third grade, 2011-2012)
 

 Round 1

 
  • Aptitude Assessment (The Cognitive Ability Test is administered to all district second grade students)
    Cognitive Ability Test (CogAT) Composite Standard Age Score  (85th - 99th percentile)

Parents will receive a letter informing them if their child qualifies for further testing, Round II.

 

 Round 2

 
  • Achievement Assessment
    Iowa Test of  Basic Skills Survey Battery (ITBS) 85th  Percentile in both total Reading and total Math
  • Creativity Assessment
    SOI Systems, Creativity Short Form stanine score of 5 – 9

 

Elementary third through fifth grade
Middle School sixth through seventh
(Applying for the following year, 2011-2012)

 

 Round I

 
  • Aptitude Assessment  (The Cognitive Ability Test is administered to all district second grade students)
    Cognitive Ability Test (CogAT)
    Composite Standard Age Score  (85th - 99th percentile)  

Eligible for further testing (Round II)

 

 Round II

 
  • Achievement Assessment
    Iowa Test of  Basic Skills Survey Battery (ITBS) 85th  Percentile in both total Reading and total Math
  • Creativity Assessment
    SOI Systems, Creativity Short Form stanine score of 5 – 9
