Title I/LAP

Each year parents are provided with information regarding federal "adequate yearly progress" requirements. In 2009, the Tacoma School District did not reach the state uniform bar standard, and the district continues to be in Step 2 of district improvement. Our district has created a District Improvement Plan that has four primary goals:

  1. Increase achievement for all students each year by 10%.
  2. Decrease the gap between under performing subgroups and the district average performance on the WASL by 10% annually.
  3. Decrease the dropout rate by 10% annually.
  4. Reduce the number of students not graduating by 10% annually.

Tacoma Public Schools teachers and staff have set very strong expectations for themselves and they are working diligently to meet the educational needs of every child. The district is committed to increasing efforts to engage the community and parents in meeting our goals.
