Tacoma School District Core Beliefs

These are the core beliefs of our district leadership team that serve as the framework from which our commitments to our students and staff  are derived.

The school and district leadership of the Tacoma School District ensure that:

  • All students are provided a full, balanced standards-based curriculum at all levels,  supported with pedagogical strategies that best address individual learning needs.

  • All instructional staff members are provided professional development in best practices which emphasizes standards-based teaching and learning and adheres to principles of adult learning.

  • Both administrative and teacher leaders are trained to maximize their capacity to serve as effective instructional school leaders.

  • A collaborative team environment that uses student performance data to drive instructional practice is evident at every school.

  • An effective system is in place to provide frequent, clear, and consistent communication about expectations and outcomes to staff, parents, and community stakeholders.

  • Deep, sustainable partnerships are formed with students, parents, and community members so students have additional support in order to reach high standards.
